... and now you play the waiting game! Yeah that's the only thing about small luthiers (especially when they are overseas), if the delivery time slips, which it always seems to, there can be a pretty big lag time between when it's expected and when it will actually be delivered. It has happened to me several times now and while I've been fortunate that the guitars I've received after the extended wait have been more than worth the wait. There are few builders overseas that I would be okay trusting with extended wait times (Dan @ Oni is one of them) when delays pop up, but sadly that seems more the norm these days than ever with small builders. I'm absolutely loving the Thorn "on spec" program, getting a guitar within a few months because he's already started building a few production guitars with specs of his choosing is an awesome deal as I'm a little bigger on instant (or near-instant, I can wait a couple months ) gratification these days than I used to be.

Indeed it was, shocked that so many people were like "ZOMG I'll take it!!!" and then when I said "no problem, let's do this..." they ALL disappeared. Well, maybe not shocked... The Thorn is nearing completion and Ron just sprayed a few of the other DeLuxe models in the queue... this is my buddy's koa-topped DeLuxe, talk about ridiculous!

Just absolutely killer stuff, I can't wait to see how the koa on mine pops once it hits finish (which should be soon IIRC, since he already did the grain filler on the limba a week or so ago) and mine is getting that same caramel burst which is going to be dead sexy!

Yeah exactly, that guitar sounded fantastic and sustained like crazy (not to mention it was uber lightweight) but I can't play a TOM setup comfortably for very long either. Bit of a bummer but ah well, not like I'm exactly hurting for guitars over here or anything.

Haha yeah that Horizon was pretty badass too. I would have held onto it but my last Thorn is like a month away from completion and I wanted to make sure I had cash ready to go so there was zero hold-up getting Ron paid immediately. My plan (and it sounds like the buyer might be going forward with it too) was to get it 2Tek'd as well since I'm also not a fan of TOM bridges and with the semi-hollow body that would have been PERFECT for a 2Tek. Mike @ 2Tek also announced on their Facebook page that an LR Baggs piezo-equipped version is going to debut at NAMM this year so I was hoping to grab one of those to toss into that guitar as that would have been rather epic but that also would have been more money into another project guitar that I really shouldn't be sinking cash into since I already have others that aren't finished yet.

I don't know, man. Can't really promise anything at the moment because I have my own band's stuff to track, shows, and work on my plate. Do you have anything up at the moment to listen to, just out of curiosity?

I kinda want that uv70, but the trem issue still makes me cry. I love the pop in bars the edge/lopro has and my OCD makes that edgepro2 or whatever seem like a deal breaker. I still want a mayones too but don't want to pay 3500 for one...

Yeah. I hope I'll eventually convince Ron to make 7's

My Oni 8 is this one -

Swampash body. Ringed Gidgee top. Rosewood neck.
