7 string or 8 string

Hi,

I'm thinking of abandoning the path of the 6 string and joining the ranks of the extended range guitarists. I'm currently looking at getting a 7 or 8 string but I'm not sure which to go for. Any opinions/recommendations when it comes to choosing between the two?

Why abandon it? Is there a reason you have to choose one or the other?

What attracts you about 7-strings and 8-strings, what attracts you more?

I like the added range of 8-strings but prefer the way 7-strings necks play much more. I can shred on an 8-string but sometimes when riffing around it can give me cramps.

And have you tried playing a 7 and an 8? Just go with what feels better in your hands when your playing them.
