Need Inlay ideas - Custom 7 string neck for RGA 420z Predator tongue
A friend of mine just gave me his ibanez RG420z 6 string and I felt like I could do with a 27" 7 string neck on this bad boy. I'll use this fantastic 6 string neck on an old Saber that I have with a horrendous Wizard II (post 2004) neck.
I wanted a somewhat fancy artwork for an inlay idea. I'm after more artwork rather than fret markers to change things up on it. References for colour: IBANEZ RGA420Z PRT Predator Ibanez RGA 420z | Flickr - Photo Sharing! What would go nice with that colour? I was thinking I could go with an asian dragon or phoenix inlay where the outline of the creature looks like flames. Or I could do a planet theme, perhaps mars or saturn and use multiple inlay material to make up the texture of the planet. A simple flame with 3 layers - yellow - orange - red. on the 12th fret A swooping phoneix that progressively burns up into a fireball by the 24th fret? I'm afraid it'll look too much like the PRS bird inlays so I'd make it swoop from the top of the first fret board and move down to the bottom of say the 19th fret and the 20th - 24th fret can have a flaming crash site. what do you guys reckon? If this is the millionth Inlay idea thread - I'm sorry guys but I wanted to start freash with some ideas. |

Where do I find friends like that?!! No input for the inlay ideas unfortunately, just wondering how you plan to fit a 27" 7 string neck to it? Surely you'll have to move the trem which would not be fun!

I wouldn't mod the body for a 7 string neck. Its too nice I would just build another body/neck. That's me though.

^I agree with that... If you rebuild this one and make it a seven then it's basically not the same guitar anymore.

Its pretty sweet and unique as is, If you really want different inlays order a custom neck, maybe one with a sweet ass reverse headstock.

K deleting the thread - I wanted a plain fretboard for my custom but ill go for an artwork type inlay on that.
I'll be posting a new thread for that. |

This is such a silly idea that I wonder if you're trolling...
...you want to take a $2600 usd Prestige 6 string and reroute it for a 7 string neck, bridge, and pickups? Sell it and get the 427z or get a custom body built as well. Honestly, man, otherwise you're just using the body and essentially parting out the rest of the guitar. |
