Would it be possible to make an rg7620 neck out of a carvin neck thru blank?
Title says it all. That idea came across my mind, as ive been wanting a replacement neck for my 7620, but not with a typical ibanez headstock. ive tried looking for luthiers to build it for me, but then this idea came across and thought maybe it could work. any input?

Yes, it would be entirely possible, but keep in mind that Carvin doesn't do a 16'' radius on their neck thru blanks (IIRC) so the Edge trem is not going to be sitting at the correct radius (either 14'' or 20'', wheras the Edge is on 16'').
Perhaps a better way to go about this would be to contact ET guitars. |

Why not just mod the headstock on your RG7620? It'll be a heck of a lot cheaper and easier than completely redoing a Carvin neck.
Just cut all the edges square, glue boards to the sides, plug the tuner holes, and BOOM instant plank/blank headstock ready for a custom cut. Need help with setting up a trem? Need info on your Ibby? Live in Milwaukee? Please feel free to message me. New Rules. Read Them. |

Nope.
It's 430mm, which comes to roughly 17". Need help with setting up a trem? Need info on your Ibby? Live in Milwaukee? Please feel free to message me. New Rules. Read Them. |

My rg7620 needs to be refretted, and I dont trust myself with tools much. plus the headstock i want is a carvin holdsworth 7 string styled headstock, and i cant exactly make that out of a 7620 neck xD and maple is my last choice for wood, the necks blank idea was just a desperate measures kind of thing. Im also getting a custom body made for me, based off the dimensions of the 7620 neck. so, this is actually a neck for that body.
