Well I pretty much answered my own question. I recently got my hands on an agile septor pro 825. It's a 25.5" scale with a .74 gauge 8th string... and when I play EBEADGBE its very muddly and floppy... so with a 27" scale length with a .74 Im sure it'll sound perfect right?

and I should replace my strings with a thicker string gauge, what do you think I should go with?

.80 if its almost there or a .90 gauge. .90 is your biggest choice without getting a bass ball end.
