Reenforced pickups?
Not sure where this would go hoping this is the right place,
basically i play in a band we play a lot of shows with high energy stage performance, some how i keep managing to break the brackets that hold my pickups in place and they fall inside the guitar, its happened on My LTD and now Gibson SG, ![]() anyone got any tips on how to reenforce my pickups to stop this from happening? please help im off on tour on wednesday and dont want it happening mid tour and be guitar-less

Sure thing will upload some tomorrow.
When i got it fixed first time around, apparently the bracket that holds the pickups in was broke, which made the pickup fall into the guitar. |

Direct mount? Maybe insert wood blocks behind the pickups to simulate direct mount.

Yeah what spacedock said. You could direct mount them to the body, therefore getting rid of the need for the mounting rings. Otherwise I'm pretty sure there are some metal rings around though if you didnt want to direct mount.

Why not just get metal rings? I feel like that is a better choice than direct mounting.

Well there's your problem... EMGs
Haha I kid, Yeah, chuck something underneath them (at the right height of course) and that will eliminate your breaking problem.. I still can't work out how you manage to do this though :/ |

+ if you ever wanted to readjust the pup height you'd have to mill up *another* block of wood. Direct mounting sounds like a more straight forward solution. Just be aware that your guitar will look a lot different, I'd recommend finishing the pickup cavities with at least a matt paint finish to neaten up any finish that may have gone over in these recesses. |

I can't help but wonder if it's NOT the pickup rings. I can't see any damage whatsoever to those, and it makes me wonder if the threads on the mounting screw, or the threading on the tab of the pickup itself might be stripped. None of it is stuff that's a difficult fix, though......... it seems the internet is busted, we are about 20 posts deep in an In Flames thread and there has yet to be a "everything after Clayman sucks" post. |

AS said above - I'm not seeing any pickup ring damage.
You might want to find a couple little nuts to lock the thread under and over the pickup if your screw thread or pickup thread are failing. |

you have to really be wailing on that thing to be breaking the tabs off the EMG's, and adding to the equation that your cutting yourself while playing you need to lighten up on the guitar and do something differently, i don't mean just stand there and be boring, but do something different.
