My First build..... or mod. or whatever
I had this old strat (don't worry, it was a squire) just laying around, and i've been wanting to make guitars. I figured i would start with something that i couldn't mess up.
so this strat will be turned into a semi-hollow abomination. I was going to take pictures earlier in the process, but didn't have a camera handy, so this is where things are at right now: ![]() yes i cut off the horns! that decision took a whole 5 seconds to make. my current issue is making the face plate... i don't have suitable wood yet, but when i get it i'll have to make holes for the pickups and hardware...... not sure how to measure for the neck pocket on the face plate, so any advice there would be nice. i want it to fit well! |

thanks.... i've made a little progress and i'll hopefully post more pictures tomorrow.
i have a sort of.... goofy question though. i have tiny metal shavings, basically steel dust all over my garage, and it seems that I unwittingly set my pickups down on that...... so now my pickups have magnetized a bunch of steel dust to themselves. anyone know how i can get that off?

dat's what i was tellin' you befo'!
yes it is very ugly. I got wood to cover up the cavities with, but um, turns out it's some horrible ply. good thing I only spent like 10 bucks on it. |
