BAD Stage FEEDBACK

hei guys, my band (Silent Outcry) just played a show at a smaller stage (local bar) and we are having some big problems with feedback . We have two singers and one of them had to go all the way out of the stage to avoid feedback. I was wondering what kind of 'noise suppresor' (if there's one) for a P.A. system we could get to improve our situation. We are using a Mackie 808M 8 Channel Powered P.A. with a the equalizer set w/the typical V shape. We have two UBL JRX speakers. We are using an Shure SM58 and a Senheiser E835 microphone for vocals. We are not micing anything. We've dropped both the microphones a few times due to a crappy mic stand, maybe it has to do something with that.

I was also wondering if any of you use a higher end preamp for live situations (api, neve, a-design pacifica, DAV, RNP, Presonus MP20, etc.). THANKS your FEEDBACK would be greatly appreciated .

With Tool, Killswitch Engaged and Chevelle influences, Silent Outcry was borned:

My first guess is placement of stage monitors. You should place them 45 degrees off from the mics on either side (depending on how many you have)

Also, I don't know what type of music you're playing, but another factor is if your singers are cupping the mic ball. That definately creates shitloads of feedback.
