My band's first show (Videos)

We played a show last Sunday (the 16th) and I just finally got the videos from my friend who has been busy all week (it's her camera) and I just uploaded them today on to You Tube.

First, some back story. We were a five piece until the morning before the concert. Our fucking singer text me at 4:30am and told me he couldn't do it (because he's a fucking pussy who always chickens out, but that's a whole other story). Pretty much, I had one day to learn how to play and sing the songs at the same time. I already knew the lyrics from constant band practices (I also wrote them all), so that wasn't much of an issue. The thing is, I think I'm a terrible singer, so don't expect too much from that department.

Anyway, there were a fuckton of screw-ups, but it's our first show and we actually moved on to the next round (it was a Battle Of The Bands).

Anyway, the videos can be found:

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

or

MySpace.com - Scarangella - Newport, Kentucky - Rock / Metal - www.myspace.com/scarangella (scroll down, the videos are embedded on the page)

Let me know what you guys think.

In case anybody is wondering what we're using (and who's who):

Far left: Evan, bass
He's used an Ibanez SR505 (stock) to a Zoom 506 (I think) to a Genz Benz Head (that we took out of a combo) into a Yamaha 1x15" cab

Center/Leftish (next to Evan): Eddie, guitar
He's used a BC Rich Virgin 7 with an EMG 707 in the bridge (It's mine, and I just sold it, actually) to a B-52 Lg100 with matching 4x12" cab

Far Right: Me (you can't really see me most of the time)
I used an Ibanez K7FB with an Evo 7 in the bridge to a Marshall SS Head (I know they suck, it's all i had available to me) to a Mesa 2x12"

The drummer's name is Chris, he uses some off-brand drum set that sounds amazing with a Zildjian China and Crash and Sabian Ride/Crash, Splash, Thin Crash and Hi-Hat. He has a fucking sweet double bass pedal (I can't remember the brand, it's one of the bigger ones).

And I've typed way too much. Enjoy.

The Mad Frog

i used to go there quite a bit.

sounds pretty good for a first show!

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Thanks Leon. Yeah, the Mad Frog is kinda small, but the sound guy is great. He's cool and knows his shit.

did you plug into the board for the audio, or was it just the mic on the camcorder? i've been meaning to pick up a minidisc recorder to plug into the board at one of my band's shows, so that we can have something extra to help promote ourselves.

That's actually the mic on the camera. It's just a Mini DV. I was really surprised at how well it picked us up.

Quite nice, it was first show, so it's going to be only better

not bad. i know Roger was having problems with the onboard mic on the video camera he was using for a show once. it was clipping pretty bad, and had NO bass response whatsoever.

Well, the guy recording was in front of the sound system, so that might have helped.

So, uh, anybody else than apophis and Sir Leon? I mean, I them, but I need some more feedback than that. Do we suck that bad?

it sounded better than MY band's first show, and my bandmates have all been playing music at least 10 years a piece more than me

I guess it's true that you're always going to be your own worst critic. I'm always overly critical of myself when it comes to music, especially my voice.
