Need quick answer :)

I have band practice tonight and we're using our PA to get it tweaked for future shows.

i need a good mic for micing up my 5150(since i'm not going direct). I know the SM57 seems to be popular, but is it ideal for live use or just recording.

I need ideas please!! I might be buying one on the way to practice (along with a boomstand to hold it). I don't need the best out there, but something durable with good sound quality

The SM57 works pretty well live too! Alot of bands down here use those things religiously.

Yeah, it's an absolute workhorse live mic - great for guitar cabs and other high volume applications - snares and toms especially - but as it's fairly directional it can be used on just about anything in a pinch.
