Cruiseships anyone?

Im gonna be done school soon, and I have to start looking for work, least til I can pay off my current loans and maybe get some more music education somewhere like Humber, I dunno.. Hmm.

Anyways, I was thinking of going on a Cruise ship. I heard its pretty cool, and you dont spend the money you earn cause obviously you cant buy much on there..

I actually rather go as an Alto Sax player, been learning that lately and I think that'd be super fun.. but maybe guitar, if I could get in as one (my jazz standards/etc isnt quite up to par yet)

Anyone ever go on one, or have info on it? Esp how to get started/the audition process.

(oh yes, Im working on my reading LOTS.)

Cruise ship musician is a cool gig to get, a friend of mine did several 6-month stints as a drummer for a jazz quartet and loved it. He was suffering from cancer and he decided he was going to spend his last couple of years playing music he loved in an environment he always wanted to experience. Originally he had planned on one 6-month contract, but he got called back I think 3 times. He's since passed on, but he was never happier.

I believe he got his gigs through Jobs, Online Resumes, Industry News - US Music Jobs - I believe they charge a monthly fee, I used to check them out when they were a free site.
