That's the one that I want. I have a Nady but I really want the AKG. As far as advice, it's probably pretty obvious but I take out the battery after using it to keep it lasting longer.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

I think Noodles had the AKG, and he wasn't too pleased with it from a tonal perspective. The Samson AirLine sounded better to me, but still not as good as the bigger transmitters.

The Shure and Sennheiser systems I've been exposed to sounded the best to me. (I use a Sennheiser Digital 1000, myself.)

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

all i know i really dont wanna deal with the big transmitters. i change guitars a bit, and it's enough of a hassle as it is sometimes, i'd rather something not attached to the strap

I had the bug. Horrible piece of garbage with shitty tone and no range.

+1. Also if you get a bit lively on stage it bounces against the guitar body giving you a horrible bang through your amp.

Look for something with twin diversity, which means twin aerials. Those systems monitor the signal strength from both aerials and use the strongest signal, meaning very few drop outs. With the guitar bug system I had a lot of problems with signal dead spots as it only has one aerial.

Really you need to face up to the fact that you need a belt pack unit. Do what I do and attach it to your belt, that way it's easier to change guitars. I'd reccomend the AKG 3000 series, which is what I'm using now, but any good quality unit will do. You want something with the following features:
  • Twin diversity
  • UHF (less chance of picking up the local cab firms radios)
  • Multi channel (stops interference from other wireless in the area as you can select a free channel)

Just understand that your wireless system is going to be obsolete, and by that I mean unuseable, in a couple years. So don't go spending $1000 on it.

Why must over-the-air broadcasting stop on the "analog" channels?
For more than half a century, TV broadcasts have used the technology that was invented in the 1920s and 1930s, and refined (by adding color) in the 1950s. In 1997, when broadcasters became interested in HDTV, and in order to find additional space for emergency communications and advanced services, the Congress decided that it was time for TV broadcasting to move to more modern and efficient "digital" techniques, which allow broadcasters to offer more channels to viewers. So, Congress instructed the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") to assign to broadcasters new and different "DTV" channels and, after a "DTV Transition" period, to have the broadcasters return their old analog channels.

The frequencies used for the old "analog" channels will be re-assigned for other uses through an "auction." Holding an auction for these frequencies will free up space for new "broadband" and other communication services, and will help emergency responders to coordinate their communications. (Finding new frequencies for emergency communications became a high priority after September 11, 2001.)
VHF and UHF wireless units work on these frequencies currently.
