So I've seen TOOL twice in 2 days...

(A smilie picstory)

Well 1.5 times really - I Took my girl the first time and she hated it so much that we had to leave She did however buy me a ticket to the following night to make up for it

So I turned up and haggled with the tout, who wanted £100 for a standing ticket . We agreed on £50 in the end which although high, was at least semi-reasonable.

Before the show I headed over the road to grab a cheeseburger and fries. I then went in and was frisked heavily by over-enthusiastic security .

I headed to the bar and grabbed a beer before heading into the middle of the crowd where everyone was packed in very close .

After a while the curtain was raised and much of the crowd proceeded to do this .

The band was fucking amazing and while I expected them to be good, I was completely blown away by the performance, which not even Adam Jones' permanent grimace could ruin.

They played stuff off the new album including "Right in Two", "Vicarious", "The Pot", and "Jambi" as well as older stuff like "Stinkfist" and "Sober" and "46 & 2" all of which rocked heavily.

The last song was "Aenima", to which much was unleashed by the audience. After this lights came on and the band enjoyed a breif group hug before taking off and leaving us in the harsh glare of reality.

I quickly made my way out the doors to my car and drove home, listening to shithouse indie rock on the radio .

I got home and had a shower before crashing out into bed.

THE END

TOOL <--Highly recommended viewing.

Nah sorry, didn't want to be lugging a camera around in a mosh pit if you know what I mean... If I'd known I would end up going twice I'd have picked up a seat for one show and get some decent pics - the lights/graphics show was incredible.

I was there last night. They wouldn't let people bring camera's in. They were really over the top on the security front. Evidently looking for drugs.

I thought the sound was awful (but it usually is at the Apollo). The bass was too loud. In fact the band overall were a bit too loud for a venue that doesn't carry sound properly.

The new stuff sounded pretty poor in comparison to the old stuff which was fucking amazing (Lateralus was brilliant as was Sober). I could have really done without that Megaphone induced shit (Rosetta Stone). Great gig but in my opinion not a band at their peak (which they were around the lateralus tour).

B3n if I knew you were going I would have bought you a beer!

d'oh!

Where were you standing? The first night I was over on the right and got way too much bass but last night I was directly infront of Adam on the left and the sound was much more balanced...I think the vocals were panned slightly this way as well.

I was over on the right in line with the balcony which probably explains the unbalanced bass.

Anyway next time!!
