Donors? (Blood, Organs...etc..)

Has anyone ever donated blood before? There's a blood donation van coming to the hospital where I work this Friday and I've been tempted for a long time to hand over some of the old claret so I think Friday is the day.

Also, I was wondering how many of you are card carrying organ donors? Say in the event that, God forbid, something happens to you you're able to help someone else who might not have been so fortunate (or are slightly more fortunate than you depending on context as you will be dead)?

I'm not, but I want to be. I guess it's something I can ask about on Friday. I think it's a good idea to hand over my bits and pieces if someone else can live a healthier life and do what they want because of them

I've donated blood once and probably will again if I happen to notice when they're doing it in my town. The amount is so small that it really doesn't make you feel any different (at least I felt totally normal afterwards).

I donate blood as often as i'm allowed, i'm also wanting to sign up to the Bone Marrow donor list, as I think it's a great cause. I'd like to donate my organs as well, but haven't got a card yet.

I give blood regularly, although i HATE to do it (im deathly afraid of needles), and ive given plasma once (but never again, that just bugged me too much)

Im also a registered organ doner

I can't really give blood, I tried but freaked out. It's really weird since I've dissected tons of different kinds of animals, watched surgeries, autopsies ect... I'm even going into the medical field.

They can have my organs though, what will I care I'll be dead, not like they will do me any good.

I have been somewhat worried about the organ donor thing though because I've seen people be pressured to end life support on their loved ones for their organs. So I put that into a living will, I know it's greedy, but as long as there is any hope of life those bitches are mine lol.

I can't give blood and they probably wouldn't be able to use my organs either. I have elevated hepatic enzymes in my blood suggestive of a hepatitis infection. I don't actually have hepatitis, but because it's even indicative of that, they wont take from me.

I haven't given blood yet, but that's mainly because I was underage when they did it in high school, and I'm still working on getting over my fear of needles. I haven't seen another blood drive anywhere, but I'm sure I'll run into one sometime soon. I've been an organ donor since I got my temporary license at 16 though.

Not often. Fill out the following questionaire : blah, blah, blah "Have you been tattooed in the last 12 months" ..... 'Yes'.

"Well, thanks for coming, but not this time."

Tattooists have better protocols than most hospitals these days, I've never felt myself to be at risk of contracting something from a dirty needle when getting inked.

I try to donate once a year, and I am a certified organ donor. Hell, I figure when I die, I've got no use for them.
