It seems like I have a pinched nerve in my neck , haven't been to a doctor yet as it seems to be getting better. It's already much better than yesterday when it happened. It might also be just pain and stiffness in the neck caused by a cold draft when driving my moped or from having the window slightly open when I've been at the computer, but it's nothing like what I have experienced before. Only upside is I don't feel any pain when playing the guitar, so it shouldn't cut into my playing time. I guess I won't be able to headbang for a while.

Has anybody else gone through this? What did you do about it?

I had a pinched nerve in my fret shredding hand which scared me bunches. It was mostly from my work in landscaping. I figured the best thing I could do was stretching every morning but I don't see how you might be able to do that with your neck but good that it's getting better. I'd see if you could find a "friend" to massage your neck. Relaxing the muscles might help from them swelling over your nerve.
