Well, this thread made me change dinner plans Friday night.

I think one reason Thai is "up there" is that is hasn't been homogenized like Chinese food has been in the US (with the unfortunate exception of Pad Thai in many places). Every Thai restaurant you go to does things slightly differently, like they're all still in the "This is as close as I can get to the way my mother, father, grandmother, favorite aunt, etc. used to make it." mode.

The Ultimate Question: What string gauge is needed for 18.84# of tension when tuned to E2 on a 27" scale guitar?

I love Thai food. Unfortunately, my stomach is quite sensitive to very spicy foods (i have a hiatus hernia and a history of bad acid reflux) so eating anything really hot or acidic will result in heartburn for days. Pineapple is a particularly bad one for me, because it's so delicious, but a few pieces of fresh pineapple and i'm in pain for at least 48 hours.

So as tasty as green curries are, i find they're just a little too much, so i tend to stick the milder stuff. I had a great mango chicken dish the other night when we were out with my brother and sister-in-law and her dad. I've had some great Pad Thai in the past, but some of my favourite places have deteriorated to the point where their Pad Thai sauce just tastes like ketchup.

And just this afternoon i made a fantastic curried sweet potato apple soup in the slow cooker. Can't wait to eat it tomorrow!

I just ate at a really authentic Indian place 2 weeks ago with my buddy Chetan since he suggested it. Awesome food there and since I can't have spicy food or my Crohn's Disease acts up really badly we requested a creamed curry shrimp dish that was pretty mild. Add that to some garlic naan made on-site and it was a delicious meal!

Dave - if you head out my way again we are TOTALLY going there for lunch!

Darren - tell me you've been to either Salad King, Real Thai or Jasmine's in Toronto! Jasmine's is about the most authentic Thai you can get in the city and it's mindblowing.

Salad King is AAAAWESOME. When i was doing some work for Bell Canada at their Yonge and Dundas office, we'd hit Salad King for lunch at least once a week.

We also used to really love Golden Thai at Richmond and Church, but that's the place that went downhill and the last time we were there, the Pad Thai sauce just tasted like ketchup.

We have a fantastic new Thai place that just opened up near where i live at Bronte and Lakeshore in Oakville.

I love a good Thai place that does Pad Thai with everything in it. Some places make you only get tofu, chicken or shrimp. Good places put them all in.

I love curry rice. When I lived in Japan, I used to eat alot of it and I still have some to this day. My mother makes a good beef curry rice.
