Oh! Are yours private? Mine are free. But, then again, they chose the profession and I don't know exactly their pay/hours.

Doctors I don't mind.

I don't feel sorry for any of them, I'm sure they feel better at night when they drive home in their luxury cars to their luxury houses.

I understand exactly what you mean, I have an awful fear of them now too after some bad experiences Hope you feel better soon tho!

Yeah it's all private, and it costs a fucking ridiculous amount of money. It's criminal. To have all your wisdom teeth out will easily cost you over $1000 AUD.

Jetzt liegst du hier, ganz regungslos, in meiner hand und meinem schoß, du bist so kalt...

I'm fond of a few.

Edit: I actually didn't know that you Brits had dental covered. Our wonderful but flawed socialized medicine here doesn't touch it, unfortunately, as the $1800 hole in my bank account (and 4 dents in my jaw where teeth used to be) can attest.

I have an abnormally high tolerance to caine anesthetics. So much so that after a fairly hefty dose of Novocaine and many painful shots, I still had total feeling in my mouth. They tried to surround the tooth area with shots, but it was pointless. They ended up drilling and I had to suffer through it.

My biggest problem would be getting a cyst removed from my jaw. It was done in an oral surgeon's practice. They decided to give me Valium. Due to the nature of the drug, I had absolutely no memory of any of the happenings in the office that day. I awoke on my couch missing a gigantic block of time. I was wondering why my mouth wasn't sore. I later find out that I'd been out of it for quite a while and had gone into anaphylactic shock as a result of the Valium I'd been given.

Doctors, though. I don't mind. I see my family doc quite regularly--enough so that I know most of his office staff by name and they know me, which I guess is kind of unusual as I'm quite young. I really only ever go anymore to get more paperwork signed off on, to check on my heart, to get my Mantoux screening test done, or for yearly vaccinations. I'm essentially a human pincushion anymore. I don't mind that little bit of pain, though. I do have a tendency of waiting longer than I should before going to the doctor, though. It's taking things to a whole new level of stupidity though. I had some chest pain on inspiration, a productive cough, sore throat, and shortness of breath. I grab my trusty stethoscope and had my sister hold it to my back for lung sounds (explaining to her how to do that was a pain in the ass...) and got some sounds from the front, pretty much confirming my suspicion of bronchitis. I ruled out pneumonia because I didn't hear rales, so I figured I was pk. I held off for several days and was taking OTC cough suppressants which were working splendidly on the cough, but still had that pesky breathing and chest pain problem. Ended up finally dragging my ass into the doctor to get a bronchodilator because the shortness of breath had gotten more severe. Gave me an albuterol scrip along with a "just in case" scrip for an antibiotic... I forget which it was (thinking cephalexin right now, not that it really matters).

I've officially had it with the dentist. After four visits over the last two weeks, my mouth has had enough drilling and pain.

And another thing, how the hell do they expect you to answer a fucking question when your mouth is filled with tools, drills and that sucking thing????????

They don't. They're just fucking sadistic and it gives them a laugh. I'm sure they gather in the lunch room saying "Holy shit did you see that guy actually try answer me?"

Then they all laugh at us.

I don't mind the dentist, he's just a minor distraction while I stare down the dental assistant's blouse...
