I'm strangely not surprised.

And I bet Jeff wouldn't be surprised to know I used to partake of the weed, through the vehicle of the ol' pipe, my own self.

I still smoke cigars occasionally. I bet pipe smoking will be the next thing in vogue. Just look at bourbon and Scotch's explosive popularity.

Pipes are the best way to smoke tobacco IMHO. So nice and smooth, with that wonderful earthy smell. I don't smoke anymore, but I miss that flavor.

I smoke handrolled cigarettes (I love the Stokkebye tobaccos, and Drum - which you can find at bloody WalMart! - is fucking yummy), cigars (prefer Nicaraguan, but past the Nicaraguan-tobacco lines Illusione and 601 my favorites spread out to include AVO and Cuvee), and pipes.

Most importantly, I don't inhale. My lungs are at more risk from second-hand smoke than from my own smoking, and my second-hand exposure is practically nil when I'm not with the girlfriend or at the cigar club, so I'm not worried there. Plus, there are a couple of interesting benefits - I have a significant jitter in my right hand (and only my right hand) and the right side of my body sometimes seems a little 'drunk' normally, but with some nicotine in me that becomes much less of a problem; also, I'm pretty stressed most of the time and smoking really helps me unwind and focus my head on more 'visible' things than abstract algebra and other obnoxious math. For that reason I really don't think smoking will hasten my death enough to worry me.

Also, I've never bought a pack of manufactured cigarettes, and puffed on maybe five manufactured cigarettes (at most) in my life.

All of that tobacco is still aging - airtight jars in my dark closet, and such. The blender for the Dunhill tobaccos is no longer in business so Dunhill supply might get a bit thin while a new blender is being worked out.

I just figured a while back that I'm white, ridiculously overeducated, from a rich family, and generally far too snooty and egotistical not to be a pipe and cigar smoker. For fuck's sake, I'm a math nerd who worships himself and is as close to English as a German-Polish born in Texas can be, what else am I supposed to do?
