Get you some good jeans (dark and trendy)

a pair of decent comfortable boots (timberlands, maybe)

a few polos (nautica, etc...), a few buttondowns (go to a trendy store at the mall like express) and some affliction t shirts
.

Also check out tank theory for some cool tees.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll keep pondering my options while y'all keep tossing ideas my way. I picked up four shirts last night, NICE stuff. Two Calvin Klein + two Perry Ellis button downs at an outlet. Were originally like $70 - $80 each! I actually paid a fraction of that.

Other than that, I've been surfing around trying to make note of what the most "admired" rockers sport. A disturbing amount of eyeliner (Laiho, Novaro, Valo... and I guess a lot of guys with 'O's at the end of their last name )... yeah, that ain't gonna fly. The aforementioned non-bling jewelry here in there, but nothing really standout. The long hair I guess is the big "Hey, I'm a musician" freebee, but I've always had that one going on.

Jeans that fit is a good start (Kenneth Cole, Perry Ellis, DKNY), Cool T's (that fit) without A Death or C. Corpse logo, avoid boxy work shirts if possible, assortment of shoes, Chucks, Samba's, etc. Non boot like casuals (no white socks). Oh yea a couple of cool blazers for lounging with the ladies. The blazer is the best wordrobe tool because you can wear it and get into a club that is a little dressy and not feel like a total chode. Oh yea no chain wallets.

I dunno, you lost me somewhere. Where exactly does a blazer fit into the musician's wardrobe? I've got a couple of nice single breasted sport jackets (similar to a blazer) that I've had for years and are nice for the right occasion, but the point here was to get away from the preppie look. So, for the most part, I retired the jackets a while back. They just haven't been a eye/compliment catcher... and in reality, I think you end up looking more like a salesman who just got off work to people than a CSI Miami "cool-guy" or whatever... and there's nothing lamer than getting asked where the high-end audio is at while browsing your local retail store.

Furthermore, I don't see why a musician wouldn't be at home in a band shirt... Perhaps Cannibal Corpse's cheesy over-the-top gore motifs are a bit much, and I'm personally not a fan, but I dunno, isn't there a certain amount of dark edginess expected out the archetypal rock guy? I'm pretty sure it's the idea that you're more likely to burn the file cabinet down than to file the proverbial TPS report in it that makes one interesting/cool/sexy, you know?

Really? I haven't worn one in years, but I actually of thinking of going back. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but chain drives are pretty rock 'n' roll and wouldn't look to out of place in a musician's getup, right? I dunno, I was going to forgo the trucker dogchain or skater giant fanchain thing and do up my own with one or two (unequal lengths) of an ornate copper chain to go along with my liking of copper/brozne/brass jewlery. Up until now, I've gone with antiqued silver and pewter colors but I found a lot of really cool pendants, chains, earrings, and cuffs in the copper-based metals. Of course, there'd be an substantial investment in a set of these babies to go along with that line of thinking:
