![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I get numbness and tingling but no pain, in fact the fingers are a little numb as a type this. Lately I've noticed a lack of strength in my left hand when playing guitar, but it might just be because I'm so out of practice ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey Brian, Aaron, any updates from either of you on this? Bizarre as it is, mine started getting very problematic the day I saw this thread (see post above). Remained numb for a couple of days and has been going through various stages of numbness to mind bending pain putting me on the verge of tears. I just had x-rays and an ultrasound today, awaiting results. I've had the numbness thing happening for years but only when I did certain things, like tuning basses, stuff like that. Oh yeah, it has seriously effected my grip at times. I wasn't able to fret notes on a set of 9's last week ![]() |

![]() I'm seeing a hand specialist/neuropathic surgeon in about a week and a half and a sports injury specialist next weekend. We're attempting the cordiosteroid injection route first and then go from there. Apparently for injuries like this, the nerve sheath is severely inflamed or aggrevated and the injection has people out the door 80% of the time within a minute. I think I'll cry if within 1 minute, I'm nerve-pain free. Don't fuck around with this pain - get doctors to take it very seriously and make them do their job. If they give you an appointment too far away, call now and then to see if there has been cancellations.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Interesting, and scary! The intensity of the pain is pretty unbelievable, isn't it? The tests I had done determined there is no problem in either the elbow or wrist, which puts the problem somewhere from the shoulder to neck. Specialist appointent is May 8, that's the soonest available, though I will do as you say and call to check for cancellations. Having some occasional tingling in the other hand now too ![]() |

![]() | Hi everyone, I have a quick stretch that might help. I damaged my ulnar nerve when I was about 13, hitting my funny bone (ulnar nerve) on the edge of my snowboard. I still have a bit of numbness in my pinky (on my left hand) that I notice if I don't stretch it. Here is how you do it. 1. lift your arm straight out from your side, so that your arm and body form half of a 'T'. Point your fingers straight out. 2. now, bend your wrist up, so that your fingers point toward the sky as much as is comfortable. I can only tilt mine up about 45 degrees, your mileage may vary. Depending on how tight you are, this may light up the nerve. You will know because you will feel it in your elbow. You can move it back a bit (if you were laying on the floor with your arm out, "back" means, if it was possible, you would rotate your straightened arm into the floor). 3. using your other hand, reach over the top of your head, grab the side of your head (same side of the head as your outstretched arm) and GENTLY pull your head to the opposite side (stretching the neck and nerve). You need to gently move your stretched arm, shoulder, and neck so that you lightly stretch the ulnar nerve. I do this a few times a day, when Im sitting, watching tv, working, etc. I went from terrible pain in my elbows and wrists to totally fine (except for the damage mentioned earlier). Try it, it might help. Van Hagar was a musical genius, a monster drummer, a competent bass player, and a brilliant singer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey Chance! Stretching only barely helps me out on this but I've been doing stretching exercises whenever possible because i'm usually pretty heavy into training in Taekwondo. I really wish my nerve issue was just tingling, but when this gets set off for me, I can't even see straight. I've got my follow up appointment today after my xrays and ultrasound were done last week. I'm really hoping I get to see the conclusion to this, but i've been told that since i'm getting other weird symptoms now like inflammation in my ribs and chest that it could be something up with my spine. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, I went to the specialist the other day and am now awaiting my appointment for nerve conduction tests to hopefully find out exactly where the problem is. The x-rays and ultrasound gave no indication of anything. I got the impression that surgery may be on the cards in the near future. I wonder if they'll let me watch? ![]() |

I'm waiting on the same test on June 6. ![]() My ultrasound and xrays came back with nothing, but I finally got to see a specialist who has an idea. One of my symptoms is consistent with ulnar nerve sublexation where the nerve area in my elbow rubs on the bone. I've got another appointment Monday to check out a few other things but I'm basically staring at a surgery date too. I watched my foot surgery, but the state of mind (look up Fentynol) I was in made it more like a saturday morning cartoon... "Oh look! He cut my ankle open! Heh!"
