I generally take my shoes off, but if I have to run back upstairs if I've already got them on, I will. Or if I'm making multiple trips outside to carry gear/groceries/whatever in, I'll wear them into the kitchen. As soon as I'm done I take them off.

Off. I have a black rug in my room too that gets dirty as fuck even when I'm barefoot. Can only imagine what it'd be like if shoes trampled on it.

i nearly always keep my shoes on, unless i'm in someone else's house, and when we get in, he/she takes his/her shoes off.

Worse thing is when some guests come over to your place and they see everyones shoes in the front foyer and they continue with theirs on like they didn't see anything. I usually never say anything but my dad always puts his foot down. (sorry weak pun).

I go off what the other person does. If they take them off I will. It just seems weird to take your shoes off in someone elses house if they don't

I have to say that i've been in some houses where the floors are grimy and dirty so I just went ahead and took my shoes off anyway to be nice but man, I hate walking on nasty floors with no shoes, I like it when their carpets are nice though.

In Canada, it's very, very common to take shoes off in a house.

Not so much here in the US. In Ohio, almost no one takes shoes off.

That said, in my house, my shoes always come off. I wear slippers. The whole idea of shoes tracking through a house is gross to me, but I don't make a big deal about other people doing it, as it's all I've known. I'm sorta like a vegetarian in that respect.

My aunt was like that - I went deer hunting at their farm and had on some really mega muddy boots - i go to take them off and my aunt was like "oh no honey its ok"
