No shoes in the house thanks, I don't tell others to take them off but I think it is disrespectful for me to walk in another persons home and not take mine off.

I have always seen 98% of people taking off their shoes before coming in my (or someone's) place. It's a bit different in summer time, but still.

I don't know. It's the polite thing to do... You bring all sort of stuff inside a house with your shoes... Especially those who sweat a lot. Better to leave them at the door.

Same here. And I don't let anyone in my house with shoes on. My best friend stayed at my place in December and the first time he came in, he didn't take his shoes off, so I stopped him and said, "Hey, look, you got a buncha dirt on my floor. That's the worst. At my house in the US, some people came over and didn't even wait to take off their shoes or say anything and the kitchen floor was covered in dirt and cold water from the melted snow.

I think there should be a thing such as common sense. The inside of a house is not the middle of a forest or desert.
