As for diet, I don't monitor what I intake, but I'm pretty sure I eat healthily. I eat tons of fruits and I drink lots of water. My mom dosn't even buy junk food so that's not a concern either. I used to get tons of exercise, that's definately something I should get back to doing rather then spending time on the computer. I realized that the computer, tv, etc. were a distraction so I started doing my homework in the basement. When I did force myself to stay down there though it would take me up to 6 hours to do two assignments that should not take more then 45 minutes a piece. So after a while it got to "I'm not understanding this at all, I should go take a 20 minute break." And that break snowballs into a 40 minute break, then an hour break, etc. Or if I'm not understanding an assignment I'll say "hey the textbook makes no sense, I should go look this up online or IM one of my friends to see if they can explain it!" The phych let me know up front that the medecine will most likely allow me to pay attention, but it won't magically cure my procrastination. That's something I'm going to have to work on my self. When it comes to sleep, I usually end up staying late because I put off the homework and now I have to finish it at night. So if I take care of my procrastination I can eliminate that. Edit: He also gave me pamphlets on how to develop good study habits and other little tricks to work around adhd. (Like leaving sticky notes everywhere) |

I cant really say anything that hasnt alreaddy been said, your basically taking speed every day. Just remmember that its hard to get off once you have been using it a long time, and its a very powerfull drug. If you dont like the way its making you act, I would probably look for alternatives. Remember that you can read up on this yourself, and read other peoples experiences.
www.erowid.com < I recommend reading up and deciding for yourself. |

I experienced similar side effects as you. And, I took 'em leisurely. Dumb.

The side effects have calmed down alot now. I still have that butterfly feeling in my stomach and my appetite still seems to be down, but otherwise I'm feeling fine.
It also seems to be beginning to work. The other day I was able to plow through all the work I was assigned over the break without getting distracted at all. I was also better able to follow along in class today. |

You, my friend, have a severe case of "ants in the pants!"
In all seriousness, the suggestions given by others seem very reasonable. That "medication" is pretty much a legal form of speed, so I would do everything I could to NOT take it. I understand it might seem to be working but I know a LOT of people who have taken stuff like that and end up hating the effects down the road and when they try to quit, it is VERY rough. You're basically getting yourself addicted to a pretty powerful drug, and once you decide you've had enough, it's going to be quite difficult to stop. I notice myself having trouble concentrating at times or being easily distracted (Look... a chicken!!!) but it's just something that I need to work on. I also don't get enough sleep which might be part of it, who knows. I won't let myself go the "easy" route and get myself medicated to "fix" the problem, however, that's not a real solution for the issue at hand IMHO. Good luck though, I hope it works out for you man. ![]() ![]() |
