On the upside, bike gadgets > *. These LED lights were fucking stupidly expensive (~$275) but man do they kick ass.
![]() Obligatory shot of my FSus Fisher, with semi-road tires on it. |

Bugs. I ate about 3 or 4 riding in to work tonight. I need to get some lights on my bike. I saw some really nice one at bikenashbar.com . They come with front LED lights and a red LED light for the back.
I want a ziploc rain coat. zepp88

These are the ones I have:
NiteRider MiNewt Dual X2 Bike Light from REI.com They're awesome. Rechargable (plug right in), last about 6-8 hours (despite what the website says) and really light up the road like a motherfucker. ![]() |

I was working overtime last night and they were 1 guy too many, so I was offered to go home early! I left at 1:00 in the morning and I rode my bike to work. I could have used those lights!!! I think I may just pick some of those up. About how far in front of you do the lights shine out?

I'd say ~10-15 feet or so with the high beam on, but they suck the battery a lot faster (not that it matters if you're only out for a couple of hours).
The mount is just a rubber ring that goes around your bars, so you can aim them on the fly with no problem. They're way worth it - when it gets dark (if I'm home) I'll take a video of 'em for ya. |

I never have had any lights on a bike, but I always wish I had 'em when winter rolls around and the damn time changes. That 10-15 ft of light beam doesn't sound like it would a tremendous amount of reaction time at speed, but I shouldn't really say, since I haven't experienced riding with lights. Hopefully it's much better than I'm imagining it. Good lookin' lights, though. But my gosh, that's expensive, and a bit more than I could afford. * Sentient loves bike gadgets, too, and spends WAY too much time on nashbar.com. Matt, how far is your ride to work, one-way? Many hills? |
