![]() ![]() | Spain (song) rules man I'm working on it, what a great song! It is somewhat easy to follow the changes, just need some work. What scales do you use for the C#7, the F#7 and the B7? For the F#7 I noticed that dominant phrygian sounds really good for the song idea. Any good version to check? Thanks! |

![]() ![]() | Im not great at choosing scales for improvising but uhh.. The "theory" approach would be.. Using Mixo modes on the dominant chords (C#7, etc).. But really, im sure you could use anything as long as you have resolve to the tonal centers. Phrygian dominant sounds good over almost anything ;o |

![]() ![]() | well.. hmm. I forget the changes.. Again, without picking up my guitar and trying, Dorian might sound best, as it has the b3 and b7, but still has the natural 6, meaning it has alot of similar context to a straight mixo, but with that minor 3rd feel in it. |

![]() ![]() | well in theory, there will be a conflict of major 3rd in the chord, vs minor 3rd in the scale, but you can take advantage of that to make it sound more "interesting" as long as you dont land on the minor 3rd abit too often as with any chromatic note though.. just dont sit on it lol But im assuming a Dorian run wouldnt sound bad over Dom chords, as everything is the same except that minor 3rd. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Which version have you been checking out? There are almost hundreds of versions of it. I think Chick might play it with almost everyone he plays with. It's such a good piece. Check out the mad version with Rubalcaba, some absolutely insane improv in that.
