If, like me, you're struggling with 'Countdown' and 'Giant Steps', GET THIS BOOK!!!!! It really is the best, most comprehensive breakdown of the substitutions used in those tunes, and has some cool ideas for how you can apply the same principles to other tunes.

Hmm, looks interesting. My teacher at school (Toni Romandini, dunno if you've ever heard of him) is really being helpful with my improvisation skills and when I play in front of the jury at the end of second semester I plan on playing Giant Steps along with a few other songs

That song is probably the most fun I've ever had doing chord changes. Considering I'm a bit of a jazz noob, I'm really enjoying this stuff right now!

Yeah, that's the idea behind it, although this book presents it in a much easier to understand manner.
