Flamenco, eh?
I was on a big flamenco fix a few years back but I kinda moved on to gypsy jazz for a while. After reading a few threads on here about flamenco I'm feeling the urge to get back into in, so I've been listening to a lot of my old flamenco CDs and decided to plut up some clips of my favourite players. Feel free to add your own. Enjoy!
<---Ottmar Liebert! He's guilty of playing watered-down restaurant music at times, so I picked a song from his unaccompanied instrumental guitar album One Guitar so you could hear him at his best (in my opinion, of course). <---Tomatito! I only own his Aguadulce album but as far as I can tell you can't really go wrong with any of them. Chekkit. <---Paco Pena! Most of his albums are live and/or collaborative albums with other guitarists and all have really bland names like Paco Pena Presents and The Amazing Paco Pena so it can be hard to differentiate sometimes. Just pick one and roll with it, I say. For a second I thought the shadow on the body of his guitar was a seventh string, but alas... <---Pepe Habichuela! I only own an unmarked CD-R of this guy's work so I couldn't really tell you much about him, but I enjoy it, so what the hell. Take a gander. <---For those of you who need distortion, Flametal! They have one album called The Elder which was recently re-recorded. Check 'em out ![]() |

Watching these videos reminds me how limiting using a pick really is. I have to say, the third video was my favorite... And the last one... Whatever floats your boat! ![]() |

Check out Steve Stevens Flamenco.A.Go.Go for a really good flamenco album.
Dude is talented and underrated IMHO. Also, as far as flamenco/metal, Marc Rizzo is one of my favorites! ![]() P.S. By the thread title I almost thought this was going to be about a Canadian guitarist! ![]() ![]() |

Paco Pena was awesome dude.
Thanks for posting these up. They were some great videos. I also dig that Pepe Habichuela guy too.

^^Thanks!
HighGain510, that Steve Stevens song was a bit cheesy for my liking, but I can't say I wasn't somewhat impressed. I didn't post any Paco De Lucia before because I figured he'd be the guy most know of, but here's one for the hell of it... "Mediterranean Sundance" with John Mclaughlin and Al Di Meola. The original performance is from the live album Friday Night In San Francisco, one of the most important guitar albums ever released and an essential part of any collection ![]() |
