For those who don't know, these are the old recordings of John McLaughlin, Jaco Pastorius and Tony Williams that have been sitting gathering dust for years. I am buying this the day it comes out...

This is amazing news. Audio or Video? Like it matters, its gunna be amazing . Was there a rule that the last living member got to release this or something?

No, it's a legendary fusion trio from more than 20 years ago. All three of them are legends of jazz fusion. Their live appearence was a disaster due to Jaco freaking out onstage and wrecking everything, and the recordings they made have been sitting gathering dust ever since.

If you don't know these three, get on Youtube and do some research. You won't regret it!

I'm looking forward to hearing this, even if it sounds like it might be an audio train wreck. McLaughlin's comments about this gig are interesting--basically, Jaco got up on the stage and wanted to play rock star a little too much for Tony Williams's liking.

According to Bill Milkowski's biography of Jaco, he went completely berzerk onstage during their sole live appearence (playing in totally different keys to the other musicians during tunes written by the other two, yelling bullshit at the audience etc.), and later, when they came to rehearse together after that gig, acted like such an asshole that Tony Williams ended up smashing his drumkit and walking out...

A real shame... Apparently the earlier rehearsals (which I'm guessing are the ones documented on this album) were much more productive...
