![]() | I just bought the Ovation GC057 Celebrity Super Shallow over the weekend. Here's pic of the model: http://www.hikingnewengland.com/inde...&f=19&t=262&s= Mine is the same, but has a black bridge. I've been playing a big fender acoustic for like 12 years, and was certainly cautious about getting a rounded-back, ultra thin acoustic like this one. The price seemed a little (lot) on the cheap side, but all I can say is... Wow. The sound is unreal, and the electronics are great. This guitar does not have the soft sound that my fender does, but it's active, half the size, has an on-board tuner, and plays great. It’s also much louder than I thought is would be. And, to boot, it’s an Ovation. Plug one in and you won't believe the price range for this guitar. Clean crisp highs and solid mids and lows. First guitar I've bought in like seven years, VERY happy! $0.02 http://gronkyco.com - just because |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Meh, I've only tried the MOB57 once that was hanging on the wall at my local guitar store for two straight years and when I played it I found out why. Not only was the roundback made of disgusting blue plastic, but it didn't sound good at all. The top sure looked nice though. I haven't tried any other models, and the newer backs with the body contours are probably more comfortable too, so I might be willing to give Ovation another shot someday if I have extra cash. Probably not though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I really want to like Ovation.. but I just can't get behind them on any model. Every time I go to guitar center, I'll try a few different models including the high-end ones, but they just don't sound good to me at all. I do notice that they do usually sound pretty good when people have them amped up and everything, but I just don't like the sound of them when I am playing them, and since I'd rather mic an acoustic than go with an onboard sound system, that natural sound is crucial for me. |

I hear ya, it's new feel for sure. I've been playing it for a couple weeks now and it certainly has a style associated with it. I use my Fender acoustic for the "unplugged" stuff, but when I need to amp-up, the Ovation just sounds soo nice. The mids are sharp and the highs are crisp. I'm still thrilled I got it. | |

My old singer in my college band had one he played, and I've picked them up in guitar shops on and off for years. On one hand, they're very robust sounding, with almost shockingly agressive bass. They sound way bigger than they are. On the other, you absolutely cannot play them sitting down. With a strap they're fine, but seated... ![]() "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |
