Sakeido's World Music Moment no.4 - Japanese "jiuta" performance
This piece features a "jiuta" or "earthern music" piece performed with the koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi (from left to right). The shakuhachi is that distinctively Asian sounding flute you hear a lot in movies when they want to evoke the sound of Asia (I am pretty sure the Last Samurai had it playing constantly through the last half of the movie ahaha). In this piece, especially, I find it a very moving and rich sound.

I'm a huge fan of Japanese music and of flute music, so the second part of this clip was really really great.
It's to bad Shakuhachi is such a hard instrument to play. |
