Just a tip: If you've NEVER shipped a guitar before, I don't know if International shipping is something you want to try on your first time. If you don't pack it properly shipping and customs will probably tear it apart before it gets to the final destination. Just throwing that out there.

Actually Matt, I'd ave to disagree. Looking at the packaging Ryan did for my S7, and for the countless other internationally shipped instruments I've recieved for work, you really don't need to fear it as you are making it sound. A bit of common sense and a lot of caution and you'll be fine. If its hardcased, wrap the guitar in something to minimise movement totally, pack the headstock cavity, and slacken the strings. Wrap the case on bubblewrap or even better place the whole thing in a bed of styrofoam beads and stick it in a box that is suitably sized.

It isn't magic, it jsut requires thought. I've seen guitars survive with less, but I've seen them also damaged.

Look at the packing job I did for the K7 when I sent it to Rob - I'm sure he'll tell you that it was bombproof, and would have survived even US carriers I would venture.

Not trying to call bullshit, but you're making it all sound much worse than it actually is.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Listen to the man, shipping international the first time can be painful and cause your wiener to shrivel. Sell and ship it to me instead, I'm in the US. No, seriously, if you pack it carefully and take your time you're just as safe doing international shipping as domestic.

Honestly, if you don't want to deal with it or aren't confident, take it to a shipping center / mailbox place or where ever they pack and ship things professionally. It costs a little more but it can be worth it for both parties.

I always use a pro shop here as one more layer of insulation against liability. The shipping companies love to deny insurance claims on the grounds that the item wasn't properly packed. The shop I send through guarantees their packing so even if the shipping company denies responsibility I'm off the hook. It makes me feel better.

There are a ton of places that do shipping. Mailboxes Inc. / UPS store offer professional packaging. Depending on your location there should be several places that do it. The larger Fed Ex / UPS shipping locations usually do it.
