That is the FedEx delivery notice for my old guitarists bass. (I put the order through and used my email for some reason) Mine came by UPS. I still have that email as well, but they don't show the COD amount owing in it.



If Nick doesn't believe me, then that's fine. He'll just keep saving his money until he has enough to cover the extra charges. Then the day will come when he takes delivery, and will see that UPS didn't take his $125. He'll think he lucked out, but really, he was just wrong all along. No harm really. Just has to wait longer to get his guitar.

Fuck Nick give it up. The absolute most I have ever had to pay for duties was $150 for my Mark IV that was declared at $1700. UPS brokerage breakdown = $45 flat rate for brokerage fees, plus between 4-10% (roughly) tax on the declared price. You will never pay $200-300 on a guitar ever

I've gotten fucked over by UPS before, and I know other people who have. Then again, I've known other people who haven't. If Rondo themselves though are somehow taking care of customs fees then that's cool. The way I feel about brokerage/customs/whatever is that it's a crap shoot. It's cool that companies like Carvin and Rondo are somehow taking care of it though. That's one of the major reasons I never ordered a Carvin in the past, I thought I'd have to pay an extra %15 at the border.

Rule #1 is don't deal with UPS if you can help it.

UPS is the only major carrier I'm aware of with draconian policies in place (very inconsistently applied) to screw over the foreign recipient.

I use other carriers whenever possible and will make special request from the shippers to use USPS if at all possible.

I have heard that USPS recently made a change to their policies regarding reimbursement to shippers for their insurance claims so some are no longer willing to make the switch. Pitty, because for me it will mean a lost sale.

Once bitten, twice shy. I refuse to ship with UPS an more.

But, back to the point......my buddy who just received an Agile guitar did NOT pay any exorbitant amount for shipping, taxes OR duties.

Carvin only ships UPS, and same with Rondo (UPS and FedEx) so im sure they have some sort of business plan set up where they only have to pay more on the shipping out the door and be covered for the boarder.

I love it.
