WTB Ibanez S7420FM with waves!
Hey guys!
I had one of these a little bit ago and should never have sold it. Would anyone be willing to sell one back to me? The waves are a dealbreaker for me, so sorry, but I'm not interested in the dot inlays. Let me know if you have one, and we can discuss price. Thank you for your time! |

i don't know if you'll find a mint one for that price but if you're going to tear it apart then i guess the body needs only not to look like normandy on d-day. good luck though bro.

well, I got a mint one for $614 on eBay last year, but sold it to help pay for other ... :::cough::: Oni :::... things, and now I want to get one again for a project. I'm going to strip the paint to make it a dark trans red, and I'm also going to buy one of the new Giger S-series (with the nasty inlays), steal its fretboard, and add a little binding to the edges to make up for the width. This will probably take me a while, so I'm not really in a hurry, though I'd like to at least have the S7420FM sooner than later.

Lemme get this right, you *have* to have the dot inlays but you want to replace the fretboard? Why not just get a dot inlay model?
Oh, and those Geiger S series are a very limited edition and very expensive. I don't know what the US price is, but the UK retail is £3,300. |

They're about $6k here, evidently. If you're buying one to use the fretboard on a project, then you're either crazy or price really isn't an issue on the 7420.
Also, if you're hoping to strip it and re-stain the flamed top, you may be about to bite off more than you can chew there, too - IIRC, it's not a tinted clear finish, the wood itself is actually stained. As such, you're going to most likely strip it down and still have a blue guitar, and red stain on blue guitar = purple guitar. You might be better off grabbing a black 7420 and seeing if you can find someone locally to do custom inlays and put a flamed cap on it - not cheap, but way better than a $6k fretboard...

![]() I have a 22 fret Performance 7-string neck that is pretty much an Ibanez neck if your interested. It has the holes set up for a non-AANJ, ebony fretboard and small pearl dot inlays. |
