Schecter C-7 FR

Hello all

Here is my review of the Schecter C-7 FR i bought today.

First- I play through a Crate BV-120H (Blue Voodoo) and a 12 x 4 Marshall stack. For effects I'm using a Digitech GNX1. Have been playing for 10 years.

I've noticed many people on this website that want to know about this guitar before they buy it. Here's what I have found:

This guitar plays very well for my tastes. I play a battery of music from Megadeth to Classical (please note: I am NOT a fusion guitarist, or nu-guitarist, or whatever the hell people are conming up with nowadays). So far, there is nothing you can't play on this guitar that doesn't sound good. Now many people play 7 strings differently, I myself use the "6+1" technique while I play. Meaning that I just add one string to the guitar and play, thus mostly using the 7th for soloing, accentuating, and pinch harmonichs.

The features are standard on this one- pretty much a give in- rosewood fretboard, 24 fret extended scale(26.5"), nice body binding(not neck or headstock), independant volumes and one tone, and the floyd...

Floyd Rose (licensed)- As this guitar has shown, the LFR has been awsome. Nothing to worry about when buying the guitar. If you want a genuine floyd, spend $200 and install it. Nothing compares to the original, but this floyd ain't bad either.

Pickups- Now comes the part where I describe how AWFUL the duncan designed actives for a 7 string are, right...... they're not. They are no 707's but they cut the mustard. They are not bad pickups. The high end is a little much for me, but for "dd" actives they are pretty damn good. You can pretty much pull off Jeff Loomis or Rusty Cooley riffs on this (though the cut-away isn't as good as the Cooley Dean).

Paid $499 and got a damn good guitar. Just thought some of you guys would want to know.

Sounds like a sick axe! Congrats & thanks for the review \m/

btw I hated the 707s the last time I tried them, so maybe that's why I like the DD ones, they have that brutality of the 81 which I love I think the last C7 HR I used was shit anyway it was honky and souned horrible.

Nice. That's not a bad price, too. I might check one of these out sometime.

btw, I moved this to the "Gear Reviews" forum.
