Schecter C7 Hellraiser Review

Ok, a slow day at work means it's time for...

The Hellraiser Review!!!



Construction: Fit and Finish, Cosmetics, etc.

First off, there's no denying this guitar is total eye candy. A deep red quilted top (lighter than it looks in the above picture, sorry 'bout that), abalone body trim and fretboard inlays, dark chrome hardware... This is just a classy looking guitar.

However, the cosmetic finishing was actually the area where this guitar came up the shortest. Nothing was really bad, per se, but there were a few little slip-ups - the black body binding at the very edge had a quarter-sized whitish spot on the inside of the upper cutaway, and the chrome "schecter" logo on the headstock seems to have had the second "c"...

Dude, I just saw the Charvel and Jackson in your intro thread - you're on if you bring those. God DAMN is the Charvel gorgeous, and I'm sorta contemplating saving for a Charvel 7-string strat from the Jackson custom shop, after listening to the Division guys for so long. Shawn and I are talking about trying to get together to jam and grab a beer or too sometime soon, so I'll keep you in the loop.

but it's not a Charvel it's a GMW Charvel clone (actually nicer than any Charvel I've played and I'm good friends with a couple of the major Charvel collectors in the country.

The Jackson custom shop will make you anything within reason if you're willing to pay - it's actually noodles' suggestion I go with the strat headstock with a Charvel logo, as it'll alledgedly piss a lot of people off, which is certainly tempting.

Strat headstock on a 7 string?
will they do that?
I know they won't do a strat headstock on a neck thru (which really bums me out) but I'd love to see a strat heartstock that's a 7

how much did that cost you?
that might be the guitar i buy if its under 900$

IIRC, Drum City Guitar Land just dropped the Black Cherry's price to $700, now the same price as the Black. www.drumcityguitarland.com if I remember - Jason over there kicks ass, and everyone who's dealt with the guy speaks very highly of him.

I think this review was just what I needed to pursuade me to buy a Hellraiser instead of a Blackjack. Great review. It answered the few questions I had.

I wish this guitar had EMG 81-7's instead
