Schecter C7 Hellraiser Review
Drew
08-28-2006
Ok, a slow day at work means it's time for...

The Hellraiser Review!!!

Construction: Fit and Finish, Cosmetics, etc.

First off, there's no denying this guitar is total eye candy. A deep red quilted top (lighter than it looks in the above picture, sorry 'bout that), abalone body trim and fretboard inlays, dark chrome hardware... This is just a classy looking guitar.

However, the cosmetic finishing was actually the area where this guitar came up the shortest. Nothing was really bad, per se, but there were a few little slip-ups - the black body binding at the very edge had a quarter-sized whitish spot on the inside of the upper cutaway, and the chrome "schecter" logo on the headstock seems to have had the second "c"...

Awesome dude. I was thinking of picking one of these up when I go to college because it's the perfect companion to the CST (which I would never bring) It has the same specs besides the neck and bridge meaning not only will it be easier and quicker to set up and tune, but because of how used to the large neck I'll be when I come back, the CST will be a breeze to play.

Okay, so I'm not crazy then, good...

Still, I have to have the bound neck, so I'm not jealous.

Cool review Drew, but my rating system is WAY cooler

I think this guitar is an excellent value. I prefer the Jackson DK7 just a bit more because of the ebony fretboard, mahogany neck, and the more comfortable neck profile... but it's nice.

Um, the Hellraiser has a mahogany neck, too... I'd be curious to try a COW if it wasn't for the lack of a neck pickup - I think the 707 in the neck sounds way better than it does in the bridge, and I'd miss the variety.

Oh okay, usually all those Schecters that have mahogany bodies have maple necks. Such as the Blackjack C7, A7 Elite,, 007 Elite, 007 Blackjack, etc. My bad

Oh yeah, definitely the lack of a neck pickup on the Jackson is definitely a detriment in some ways. For me it's not my main guitar and I mainly only use it for a rhythm axe so I don't care about the neck pickup. Plus the ebony board makes up for it The Hellrasier is definitely better for all-around stuff and looks quite good too.

I just checked the page to make sure - you're right, while most Schecters do have the maple neck, the Hellraiser does in fact have mahogany. It's not a typo, as the grain is the same, but it's certainly strange...

Drew I'm not far from you I'd love to hookup and check out your hellraiser (since GC doesn't have any plans on carrying them)
