Ten is an awesome CD. Very good stuff. VS is an alright album (has a lot of good songs on it and some okay songs on it). And everything after that (minus 1 or 2 random songs) sucks unbelievably bad. i agree, although i've only heard the lead single, it was one of the most bland songs to date i've heard from them. all the regular pearl jam elements are there, but they just don't connect like the way the y did on the early albums.

on a side note, i thought the new red hot chilli peppers single was a far better song and shows they still got some kick left.

A friend of mine loaned me the Muse CD and I couldn't believe how much some of it rocked. That single, Stockholm Syndrome, kicks so much ass it's unbelievable.

Oddly enough, I was just listening to VS in my car today. Some great songs on that album. I bought No Code and it was one of the few CD's I've ever actually thrown away.

One of the things I like about Soundgarden: even though they broke up back in '96-97 or so, they went out on a high note. Everything they did was great, they didn't peter out or become parodies of themselves. (For those who hadn't noticed, I got my moniker from a song off of Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger album, I'm a big fan.)

Agreed, MR. While the last SG album was my least favorite of the three, it was still damned decent. Kim Thayil may not have been a shredder, but he (and the rest of them) was a great songwriter.

He had a unique take on the guitar, and for that, I respect Kim Thayil. But he was a little over rated at their peak, but no one can complain now that most people under the age of 20 never heard of him.

They actually had six albums, starting back in the eighties. But the three most people know about are Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, and Down on the Upside. I assume those are the ones you're referring to?

I'm not a lead playing appreciator like most folks around here seem to be, but the solo to 'Like Suicide', the last track on Superunknown, is one of my favorite guitar solos ever. It's just so melodic and expressive, it blows my mind.
