Any Focus Fans?

Hocus Pocus

Always been a favorite song of mine. Check out the date and the style of guitar playing!

Here's cover by a band in the Philipines:

Not half bad, kind of weird in the middle with the long pause

They seem to have quite a few people on stage, I'm not sure what that's about. Towards the end, they start playing the international single version, but extra slow.

Classic song...what's Jan Akkerman doing these days?

Nothing like a good depressant to chase the blues away!

Classic song, great drums and bass, but I don't like the guitarist too much. A bit on the sloppy side, and I don't dig the old-school tone.

I've always though if you took out the yodeling and played it on a guitar instead, the song would sound 1000 times more awesome. In fact, maybe I should make a heavy metal cover of that song like that...

Awesome find, an equally kickass and silly song. I always thought the musicianship on this song was pretty advanced for the time.

By the way for those who haven't heard it, on Gary Hoey's Animal Instincts album he does an instrumental/shred guitar cover of Hocus Pocus. An excellent rendition, not to mention exclusive use of Rocktron gear

I like Gary Ho Ho Hoey, but I really thought his Hocus Pocus cover was bland and uninspiring.

Nik, it was 1973, yo! This is pre-shred-in-hard-rock. The yodelling part is actually pretty easy to play on guitar, and a hell of a lot harder to actually yodel. The way I do it, is to tap the edge of the pick on the hi notes and use my left hand for the low notes down a sixth. The guitar solos are actually way cooler, musically, since they switch back and forth between the natural minor and hungarian minor.
