The weird and non-complicated-yet-totally-badass textural noises Korn used to make back in the day on their first four albums.

i like the sound of smacking the whammy bar while doing some kind of melody. A Good example of this is Andy LaRoque on King Diamond's "Arrival" solo (2:37 in the song).

The distorted wah-ey riffs Zakk Wylde played on Ozzy's "No More Tears". I don't think a single guitar phrase ever had the same effect on me. I can remember exactly the first time I heard it and nearly falling off my seat.

Also, the guitar solo's from Skynrd's "Free Bird" and The Eagles "Hotel California".

Oh, and the opening of "South of Heaven" - simple and perfect.

One of my favourite solos ever has to be Satriani's souls of distortion at from about 2:20 to 2:35. It gets me every time.

That screaming noise at the beginning of Morbid Angel's 'Nothing Is Not', and the wierd synthy lead tones on 'I' and 'At One With Nothing'.
TJ Helmerich's DJ-scratched guitar solo on the first track of 'Uncle Moe's Space Ranch'.
Any of Preston Reed's various percussive effects.
The old double-speed effect with a slapback echo (Nuno, EVH, Albert Lee, U2, etc).
Adrian Belew's animal noises.
Any of Andy Summer's flanger-generated textures.
EVH's use of the phaser and flanger to accentuate parts of a phrase rather than just leaving 'em on.
Steve Vai's whammy-pedal melody on 'Touching Tongues'.
Mathias Ekhlund's 'whacked' harmonics.
Whammy bar gargles.
Jeff Beck's combination of bar manipulation and volume swells.

Anything ever played by David Gilmour. I'm also a fan of screaming into the pickups.

The "glitch" noise Sky Eats Airplane has been using all over their new cd. I believe it's made by taking a delay pedal and turning the feedback up all the way.
