Music / Guitar landmarks in California?

Some friends and I are taking a roadtrip in about a month through California. We are starting in San Francisco and ending in San Diego, hitting many places in between. Can you guys recommend some interesting places to see? So far I am considering:

- Mesa factory in Petaluma (i know it's North of SF)
- Carvin factory in San Diego

But what else is music / guitar-related and worth seeing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

(although it's not music-related, we are hitting some vineyards in Napa, so if you have other non-music recommendations, let's hear them!)

i could spend the entire trip at the Mesa Factory

there are millions of places to go and things to see in SF and LA. my advice, take it easy and soak up some of the beaches / coastlines between the two.

California rocks. I was born in SF so that's one place where I'd go, but while you are in southern California, in Hollywood, Musician's Institute, that's where my friends went back in the early 90's.

I'd love to spend about 2 weeks in California, SF, LA, San Diego, Lake Tahoe, etc..

Check out downtown LA, go to the guitar center there (its huge) check out a few of the other stores down town. There is a mesa store across the street from guitar center.

My fav place in Cali (not music related buy you gota see it) is this forest area called the Cleavlend national forest. Its in orange county. Its the coolest place on earth. I go there as often as i can when i go back to visit my family!
