Dave Murray. Is There Anyone Out There Similar?

I'm just listenning to A Real Live Dead One, and something struck me. Is there any other guitarist out there that plays like Dave Murray of Iron Maiden...I don't think there is, especially in Heavy Metal. I mean he's no technical wiz, but the feel he puts into the hammer ons and pull offs(not to mention the speed) are simply amazing. He truly is a unique guitar player.

I agree.... Dave is an interesting player. Very smooth and clean with his own style.... Not to mention a guitar tone that has stayed the same for 24 years... I've always been more of a fan Adrian myself. I really liked his playing on Somewhere in Time.

I agree, he's unique in both tone and style...I also agree in that Adrian is my favorite of the two, however put them in a room with a thousand other guitar players and I bet I can pick out Dave alot quicker, although Adrian does have his own style, probably not the signature that Davey boy has!

The duelists is a great song as most were off that album.... I love the intro to Aces High and the solo out of the mellow part of Power Slave... I think that was Adrian. There was a time I could tell you exactly who did what solo on those classic albums.
I completely dropped Maiden when Bruce left. I've never heard any of the Blaze era songs and I probably should keep it that way I guess. They were a great band. I didn't really care for the last album that much but it's good to see that they can still play big venues. I heard a rumor that they may be on this years Ozzfest.... That would be interesting.

Oh man you should get Brave New World, its a remarkable comeback...and then Dance of Death...EPIC...I was the same, I could easily tell who was playing what and when...and that solobreak in Powerslave...awesome, but what about the solo after the interlude in Rime of the Ancient Mariner...man my heart drops on that one

I did like Brave New World quite a bit actually. For some reason Dance of Death didn't sit well with me though.
I can remember way back when I first started playing and got my first band together when me and the other guitar player learned how to harmonize are guitar lines together......We so wanted to be the next Maiden... lol
It's funny, to this day when I hear harmony guitar parts it still does something for me.
