Ss.org jam
so... this idea was tossed about earlier in the year.... ya'll still think it's a good idea, even if the date picked suits only a few (since, there's always next year)? It could be our own little Ssorg Fest or something.
Shall we bounce some ideas back and forth until we conclude whether or not the idea is feasible? --Picking a weekend - like a 3-day weekend (unfortunately, for me, and probably many others - Labor Day weekend is already booked for something else). --Picking a location - a place with space, and distant neighbors. I think the area most often discussed was the northern Virginia area. if you want an involved drummer around, NoVA is definitely the most convenient for me. --Picking a bar to get annihilated at. --Choosing some songs to learn in advance - originals, covers, whatever. Everybody agreeing on a bpm and rotating a powertab file to each participant, in alphabetical order, could be fun (agreeing to a bpm would allow me to write drum parts with much ease, using Cakewalk, and parts that I could practice and exicute, if you want a drummer (me) available). We can have more than one song, and instead of narrowing a song to a genre, just narrow it to a bpm. Maybe have 3 songs - 70bpm, 110bpm, and 160-170bpm. The mixing of riffs from all our different influences will make for really interesting songs. if you have drum idea in mind, let me know. For the sake of simplicity, I'd suggest keeping the songs down to a 6-minute cap - no epics, no songs with 50 different riffs... but i'm probably getting way ahead of myself with these suggestions..... the ptab thing sounds like it's work, but it's not - it's fun - and not all have to write parts.... but can all learn them, if you choose. Really, the only real efforts are transportation and lodging.... and selecting a date. Even if we don't get together for a ss.org party, this could be fun to do anyway! i think we can make this happen - for those who think it's too much trouble or whatever, well.... we'll have fun with out ya! |

Sure, just send me the money to cover plane tickets, etc and I'll be on my way!
![]() But seriously, this is a cool idea, it should definitely happen for some area with alot of members. |
