Custom 7 string

If you were to ask a luthier to make a custom 7string guitar, what would you expect from it. What would be some of your criterias?

I've this ideal guitar I dream of which is a mix of Schecter C-7 Hellraiser Dark Cherry and a Carvin DC-747 with no floyd rose, neck-thru, piezzos, seymour duncan jb/jazz for 7s, 0.60-0.11, etc.. but I am really unaware if I do really need all of this or if I am missing anything

Jackson 7-string Soloist with:

--old-style rounded neck heel
--maple neckthru w/alder wings
--4 degree neck angle and Tuneomatic bridge
--Pearl white w/ebony fretboard and sharkfin inlays
--ring-mounted Duncan Distortion/Jazz combo and 5-way switch
--.008-.038 + .054 strings, tuned down 1/2 step

If I could have that, I'd never ever buy another 7-string guitar. Really.

And someday when I have about $4500 to spend, it will be mine.

That's interesting, I just drew out some schematics for a custom 7 string and 8 string in history earlier today. I'll post some pics of it once I finnish.

Jackson Soloist 7:

22 frets
Tune-o-matic
2 hums - SD JB and Jazz 7
Maple neckthru, alder wings, ebony board
Piranha tooth inlays
full neck and headstock binding
SLS-7 headstock
Trans black

Oh, wait...

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

ESP-size flying V kind of like the Alfee III but at the middle point it doesn't "come back" it just goes together like normal Vs... w/reverse ESP "pointy" headstock with the point up a little more (so it's like...more flat) standard tilt. 26" scale.

Mahogany body w/Maple neck-through neck - "thin-flat-U" shape with more at the bottom than at the top.
25 fret ebony fretboard w/paint-matching/complementing binding on the neck.
Black hardware: OFR w/locking nuts, Sperzel tuners
Black/purple/midnight blue paint.
"Mint" inlay with the I at the 12th (don't ask about that one), Mint inlay at the 1st fret, something else at 24th.
EMG 81-7s in neck and bridge positions, 3-way blade switch, volume control & 18V.

kinda like this but in a different color and ... actually a lot different...I took out the nub part in it...

I would go to the local music store, and order up an EBMM JP7 with Piezo and a color other than Red Pearlburst or is that Pearl Redburst!

The ultimate for me would be a 7-string Parker Fly Mojo... but since that's never gonna happen, the guitar that would totally make me pee my pants would be:

Jackson Collen Archtop
- all mahogany
- oil finish
- SLS-7 headstock
- ebony fretboard
- full neck and headstock binding
- Duncan JB-7 and Jazz-7 pickups
- Piezo bridge

Yum!

Personal taste and experience. I know I like maple/alder guitars, and ebony boards add a slight "sparkle" to the top.

Actually, if I was going to order another one - you never know - it would probably be:

Soloist Archtop 7:

mahogany body & neck w 3/4" quilt maple cap in Chlorine or trans red
maple board w/black binding and ebony sharks
SLS 7 headsock w/birdseye maple cap, natural, fully black bound, and black logo.
2 hum - SD Custom and Jazz 7
OFR-7 w/D-Tuna on the low E & blocked for down only (or Tremel-no)

Eh, maybe.

You could always buy my Wayne Custom 7. AAAAA Maple Quilt, alder body, Ebony Fretboard, Hard rock Birdseye maple neck (there's no other neck that I have seen with this much birdseye) and it's a Charvel...what more can you ask for!
