I am so nervous about this release. I was such a huge Queensryche nut growing up. They were a huge influence on me as a guitar player and a musician and then something snapped. After Empire, the band never seemed right to me. Then after Chris left, I actually don't care for them.

If Chris is involved and actually interested in the project than I think it could be great. Sadly though, if he isn't or he isn't really "on" I think this could be the saddest release ever for me.

I've been a Queensryche fan since 85 or so. They were a huge reason why I started playing guitar. Rage for Order being one of my personal favorites, I like everything up to Promised Land. After that release everything went sour fast in my opinion. The last few albums have been a band with just the Queensryche name but not the heart and soul of the band I used to love.

I really feel that Operation Mind Crime II is the last chance to save this band. It better be something special and I hope they don't ruin the legacy of the first Operation Mind Crime, which in my opinion will go down as a classic metal/progressive album.

evolutionmb is on a distinguished road
Operation Mind Crime is one of the best metal/prog. albums of all time. It ranks up there with Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory

It's the triryche, integrated into a tribal band around my right bicep.

butch will become famous soon enough
Mindcrime II is due out fall of 2006. I haven't heard if Chris DeGarmo is going to be involved in the writing or not. Since Chris was so vital to the writing of the first Mindcrime record, his involvment could only help the new record. DeGarmo helped in the writing of "Tribe", Queensryche's last record, and his songs helped make "Tribe" the band's strongest record in a long time.

The band has been featuring one new song during their current tour. The irony is that when Queensryche supports Judas Priest this spring, they will be playing "nothing after the third album" (Geoff Tate from the Hairball John radio show, www.hairballjohn.com).

Overall, I have mixed emotions about MCII. It could be an attempt to regain the fans the band had at it's zenith, during MC and Empire. These are the albums the fans always reference when talking about the band. I agree that it could be either really great, or really bad.

My question is MCII an attempt to wrap up their carrer on a high note? Geoff is working on a second CD, and Mike is working with another band. It'll be interesting. Rest assured I'll be among the first in line for its release.

Cheers,
Butch
