Yeah, I love the looks of that white Warlock too. Cool pics, nice to see Eric Rutan in one of the Hate Eternal pictures too.

I also think that's where a lot of metalheads go wrong about shred guitar. I've seen like 5 or 6 bands now that had solos that were just fast paced notes, no phrasing, no sort of structure. Shred... is much different... than mindless wanking. Now, Jeff's guitar, his solos, perfect! Same for Michael Amott. ![]() |

Yeah, let's try not to use the term "bitch" like that. Unless, of course, she's a total bitch.

Hey guys, it was fantastic show, wasn't it?
My little experience.... Well, I secured my place in the line to get in. Rosa went to hand out hundreds of flyers for our show their next wednesday. We get into the club, have a beer & say hi to lots of good friends. Then we went to secure our spot right in front of the soundboard. Ahhh, it's the perfect viewpoint for the entire show. Hate Eternal - Bleh. I have their "King of all Kings" CD & it's just a super brutal death metal effort. However, once you've heard the first track, you've heard them all. Seeing in them in concert is no different. other than the scattered few fans, the crowd wasn't into it either. Nevermore - Fantastic show...even though they were missing their bassist. Jim Ballard apparently broke a few fingers right before the show. They said he's make a full recovery & that it wasn't a super serious injury. Luckily, the soundman knew what he was doing. He cranked up the band to fill in for the lack of bass & it still sounded awesome. Warrell, Jeff, Steve & Van were in top form! As the hometown band, they owned that place! The crowd went apeshit. Arch Enemy - Another great show. They just oozed that rockstar presence. Even the guy who replaced Chistopher Amott KILLED! Talk about a great player. Top notch all the way. For Chimaira, I went to get a few beers and do some more promotion. First up, I was introduced to Van Willams (drummer for Nevermore) by a mutual friend. What a great guy & an instant connection. No fan boy shit or forced conversation here. It's as if we've been friends for years. We hung out for about a 1/2 hour just talking about musician shit (touring, guitars, drums, life in general, etc). When I was introduced to him as the guitarist for End Theory, he said he had heard good things about us! I told him we were one of the few Seattle metal bands with a chick vocalist that's heavier than Arch Enemy! THAT perks his ears up. As soon as I said that, some guy recognized me & started telling Van how badass End Theory was. Too cool! Van got even more interested! So, I finished up my smoke & went to get him a CD. I returned & gave Van a CD. He genuinely thanked me & said he was looking forward to checking it out. Also, since yesterday was the last day of the tour, he said he's gonna try to check us out on Wednesday. Overall, he was a great guy & very approachable. No BS or egos there. Second, a friend of mine DJs for KISW, the largest rock and metal station in Seattle. He begged me for an End Theory CD so he could start playing it on his MetalShop program. So HELL YES, I gave him a CD! SCORE! FREE AIRPLAY! And Finally, I briefly met up with Sharlee D'Angelo (bassist for Arch Enemy). Reall nice guy & man, he's a BIG dude! Easily 6'5". After all that, I went in to catch the last song of Chimaira's set. Later that night, some friends and I drank with Van Williams, Kevin Talley (of Hate Eternal) & a couple of the Arch Enemy guys. I passed by Steve Smyth of Nevermore twice, but he was always in a bit of a hurry. I wanted to thank him for the sevenstring.org interview he did, but I just didn't get the chance. Oh well, there's always next time. KILLER NIGHT! ![]() |

hooly shit shannon! NICE. Free air-time on the radio, dude, awesome.
The best thing about the metal community to me, is how friendly everyone is. Even with moshpits, there's still great moshpit etiquette by everyone in it. ![]() |

yeah, you're not supposed to use flash photography as far as I know. It can mess with the guys playing. Also, if you don't use the flash, then you can get all the cool lighting effects in the shot
