String Question
Have any of you guys bought strings from an online dealer such as Juststrings.com? I want to get DR's but my local music stores have a very poor selection for them, and no 7 string sets at all. I think I was to go with a 10-46 set with a low B 60. Any suggestions? I'm not an Ernie Ball, GHS, nor D'Addario fan, which seem to be the only ones stocked regularly in my area.

I always buy from juststrings, and usually get the DRs for my 7s. They come pretty quickly, and it's convenient. I've never had a problem with juststrings. I did once get a set of DR 7's that had a bronze string in the set, though. I used em anyway.

Thats reassuring. There's somethin about DR's that just makes me happy when I play them - moreso than any other string I've used (and I've used them all). |

I buy from Juststrings a couple of times a year. I use GHS Boomers, GBM set (.011 to .050) with a .070 low A. I wouldn't mind giving DR strings a try, but i've been a very happy GHS user for over 15 years.

I guess I'm a wuss, I like the D'Addario basic 7-string pack, 9-54. I used to have a .56 as the B, and I liked it a little better than the 54, but I can't imagine having a 60 on there ![]() Like i said, I'm a wuss ![]() |

Well, I've played with 56's before in B. I'm definitely a 10-46 person in standard, there's no doubt about that. Maybe a 58 would be better than a 60, I just thought that the 56 was a little sloppy.

Yeah, I buy probably 90% of my strings from JustStrings, with every once in a while just grabbing a set of whatever's on hand locally on an emergency basis. I started initially because they were the only place I could find single-guage elixers (I'd buy a 9-42 and a 56 B), but then gradually spread from there.
Lately I've been playing a GHS Boomers 9-58 set, which feels very balanced to me - nice, bright, crisp strings that wear fairly well, and the tension is pretty even across the neck (the Diaddario .54 that my UV shipped with felt VERY light and loose by comparison, it was kinda fun but it didn't feel right to me). I like them, but I grabbed two sets of Dean Markely Blue Steels (90-56, which is slightly lighter than I prefer, but close enough that I can cope) to give 'em a try. Their bulk individual strings are fairly decent, too- I used to buy elixers and simply replace the unwound uncoated strings every two weeks or so with their bulk strings. They actually held up better than the original elixers, strangely enough. But yeah, I've never had a problem with them, not even the time I accidentally gave them the wrong shipping address (17 waltham st, waltham instead of 17 prospect st waltham) - the e-mailed me a couple days later and told me that they had been unable to deliver my package, and if I could verify my address. Sent them the corrections, and I had my strings only about three or four days late, all told, no added charge (and this was just me being stupid, totally not their fault at all). They always include the business card of the person who processed your order, and every once in a while they have special unannounced promotions - I once placed an order only to get a message after it went through saying that they were sending out Elixer mousemads with all Elixer string orders. Sure enough, opened the thing up and there it was - not a bad mousepad, either. I used it here at work until I got an optical mouse (which doesn't work that well on black). -D

i've got a pack of 7-String PowerSlinky Ball's on my rg7621. 11-58. that 58 ALMOST doesn't fit through the tuning peg! which makes me curius... Darren, how do you even get a 70 on there? did you have to drill your tuning peg to widen the hole?
