Rob Zombie
Just got back from Orlando HOB show. Lacuna Coil opened. They were OK. I missed most of their show.
Rob's set looked good. They had video playing throughout the entire performance. There were some pieces from House of 1000 Corpses, Manson family footage, some of the band playing (that was kind of a neat effect), Munsters, flames, naked 70s chicks dancing around... etc. The sound was clean. I could hear everything pretty well. My friend that I was with said that he detected prerecorded stuff everywhere, which I guess you would probably expect, since Rob's all about sound samples. John 5 was playing guitar. He started the show wearing a skull mask and yellow overcoat. He played pretty well, I think. There was a solo spot for him, in which he did some fast pentatonics, divebombs and played some phrases from the Star Spangled Banner with his teeth. But, I didn't notice him doing a lot of chicken-pickin. Rob was pretty decent as a frontman. He does a lot of dancing around and talking to the audience. Overall, I was kind of disappointed. I think we paid like 50 bucks and drove 2.5 hours one way to see it. They were into their encores after 5 songs. HOB has kind of limited visibility, too. 7 out of 10. |

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |
