That's the music industry for you. In ten years, it will be nothing but a popularity contest, since Metallica is basicly the last of the larger than life, long lasting bands.

I think Sabbath would have been in before now, but they basically told the HOF to piss off at least once before.

To me, the very idea of a RRHOF is assinine, but I'm just an old grouch...

Like I said, it is just a popularity contest. There are bands that were a huge influence on the musicians who make the music (i.e. King's X), but will never make the RRHoF because they don't have the sales numbers.

From what I heard Sabbath turned up, but didn't perform. Metallica performed some Sabbath songs instead.

As for the Sex Pistols, they faxed a letter basically telling RRHoF to get fucked and stating they wanted no part of it at all.

Tony Iommi is thee most underrated guitar player of all time...he has created the whole down trodden Idea...the tuned down dirge we like to call..dropped tuning...come on ,and still has a few fingers missing....the man has I C O N written all over him...the first time i met him and had a chance to say "HI" or "I am Huge fan of yours"...I practically Crapped Myself....he is one of three people i have met in my life that made me feel that way....

Black Sabbath is so much more than Ozzy and "the guys". What about the Dio era, that in my opinion blow the Ozzy years out of the water! Yeah it was heavy dark and evil when Ozzy was in front, but when Ozzy left or got the boot, they really started to focus on the music and it shows. And who remembers Ian Gillian or Tony Martin?

Much like guitarists over look the importance of Iommi's work many vocalists for Sabbath are over looked.

Oh man, I LOVE the Born Again album. That was some radical shit back in 1983. But then, I like every album that Iommi has ever done, with the exception of Sabbath's "Forbidden" album in 1995, which even Tony himself admits is crap.
