Last night, Planetary Duality Tour in Modesto

Quite an amazing lineup. Aside from the second local opening act, they were all really good. The only shitty part was the venue's sound guy didn't really seem to know what he was doing and the PA along with mic cables were all pretty shitty and kept cutting out. I went with my girlfriend who took about 500 pictures (literally), so maybe I'll post some up once she gets them uploaded. I posted a long review as a blog on my MySpace, so you can check that out if you wish (my MySpace is in my profile), but here's a quick run down of all the bands.

Out of Possible 5

Local Openers:
First:
Second: (That is for the drummer and the drummer alone)
Decomposition:

Neuraxis:
Veil of Maya:
Decrepit Birth:
Abigail Williams:
The Faceless:

That's the basic jist of it. Want any specifics? Feel free to ask.

Oh, I also walked out with a Neuraxis shirt and their latest CD (gifts from my gal).

There's a hole in the world like a great black pit
And it's filled with people who are filled with shit
And the vermin of the world inhabit it
But not for long ...

"Xenochrist", "Coldly Calculated Design", and that's about all I picked up to be honest. I left during their second to last song because my head was fucking killing me. Probably because of "Hey, turn the mic up." *Sound guy turns EVERYTHING up*. What sucks is they lost probably 10-15 minutes of their set due to "technical difficulties". They were all on stage during that time and at one point Mike said, "Hmm, seems they're having some problems with the $400 PA. Really got their money's worth there." I got a pretty good laugh out of that one. I mean, if you plan to host nnational acts, at least be prepared. Then Derek started asking members of the crowd to tell some jokes. It was entertaining, but would have prefered the music.

They were incredibly tight. They were using an Engl Invader 150 and an SE. Their tone was amazing; pretty much album quality. The leads were pretty crazy and really clear. To be honest, I hadn't seen many pictures of them before, so when I saw the vocalist walk in (not the cleanest guy) wearing a local band's t shirt and some dirty ass torn up back pack ... I thought he was some homeless guy who wandered in ... haha. But he did a really good job of getting the crowd involved in the music and ideas behind it.

Luckily no. If it was, I would have been screwed being 19 and all, haha. It was at a place called Modesto Virtual on 10th right down the street from Brendan Theater.

It's a bit further down. Just outside the square.

Yeah, I saw a national act was hitting close to Turlock and grabbed tickets right away. I was amazed that I didn't have to go all the way to Frisco or Orangevale for once, haha.

Yeah. That one I don't mind too much because my uncle lives in there. So going there means a place to crash that night, but still a bother having to drive there.
