Really talented pair and you can see a lot of it in that clip... however, stylistically not very appealing to me.

Not really into that, but they're obviously talented, that bass is insane...the tone they've been given in that video is ....ing terrible, i feel sorry for them (unless that's their own gear, then lol).

I decided to not be lazy today and actually figure out what an "Arctopus" was. It is a combination of the Latin prefix "arcto", which means "Relating to the North Pole or the region near it; relating to cold; used as the scientific name of some bear species" (according to wiki), and the greek suffix "pus", "Originally Greek, '-pus' is some form of 'pod' and means 'foot'" (according to websters dictionary).
So its some sort of cold foot, North Pole foot, or bear foot. If anyone has any more info post away. Btw this is just a guess... I'm not sure if i'm even close. |

Listen to the youtube of the actual song. The tone is much better.
It is pretty out there stuff, however. With the drums it makes a bit more sense. Not bad, interesting, and probably pretty amazing to see live. Don't know that I could listen to a full album of it though. Van Hagar was a musical genius, a monster drummer, a competent bass player, and a brilliant singer. Van Halen was a musical genius, a monster drummer, a competent bass player, and a male stripper. |

Yeah, I know... I actually have the issue of G1 where they were interviewed, but we never got the CDs over in the UK, so it's the first time I've seen it.

Guys, listen to the CD. These guys are ....ing amazing. Do a youtube search for their drummer, and watch him play to one of their tracks. One of the best prog groups out there, by far.

No way. One of the worst IMO. Pushed the envelope in the complete wrong direction. Just because they are playing crazy stuff and the guy has a touch bass and they play completely instrumental atonal stuff does not mean they are the "best."

Just discovered them looking for some bass-stick footage. I like it alot, definitely in the arena of spastic ink. Sweet Warr guitar man. The bassist definitely carries the band, I wish the other guys had more presence. Thumbs up from me though.

Saw them live with BTBAM, totally blew me away. I admit it's a real acquired taste but I love it. Their real tone is far better than that video.

Yes, i actually listened to some songs from the CD today. Much better, guitarist and drummer stand out much more. Youtube stuff kinda makes it sound like instruments falling down stairs - lol.
